Navegando en medio de la incertidumbre: Perspectivas sobre la satisfacción laboral y las experiencias de los gerentes de restaurantes durante la COVID-19

Resumen

Hubo muchos desafíos durante la pandemia de COVID-19, especialmente para los sectores de turismo y hospitalidad. La situación de los trabajadores desplazados se ha observado a escala global. Los servicios de comida en el sitio fueron reemplazados por pedidos digitales a través de aplicaciones de entrega de alimentos; esto aceleró los cambios en el comportamiento del consumidor que resultaron en reducciones de fuerza laboral; los resultados pueden tener consecuencias significativas para la satisfacción laboral y las experiencias de los gerentes de restaurantes. Este estudio utiliza un enfoque secuencial de métodos mixtos que analiza la satisfacción laboral y las experiencias de los gerentes de restaurantes durante la primera ola y el confinamiento (principios a mediados de 2020) hasta el desarrollo y despliegue de la vacuna (finales de 2020 - 2021) de la pandemia de COVID-19. Se reveló que los gerentes de restaurantes estaban moderadamente satisfechos con sus trabajos durante las etapas y que los componentes cualitativos revelaron los siguientes temas: (1) Sobrecargado, (2) Condiciones de trabajo poco atractivas, (3) Tendencia a sentimientos depresivos y (4) Afortunado de tener un trabajo. Se podrían considerar estudios adicionales utilizando diferentes parámetros que permitan comprender mejor los diversos desafíos que enfrentan los gerentes de restaurantes en el cambiante mercado actual y preparar a las empresas durante una crisis como la pandemia de COVID-19. Esta investigación podría aportar información valiosa para desarrollar estrategias de intervención, tanto para empresas como para gobiernos locales, que mejoren el bienestar de los empleados incluso en tiempos de crisis.
