ABSTRACT: Human actions have caused serious damage to the environment over the years, such as the pollution of ground and surface water sources, the felling of trees and native forests and the inadequate disposal of sewage and animal waste. One of the most recurring problems is the use of non-renewable sources, considering this problem: new technologies have been developed, such as biodigesters. A biodigester was elaborated with materials of easy acquisition in the city of Garanhuns-PE, its construction was carried out at the Federal University of Agreste of Pernambuco in order to evaluate the adaptation of this system and to optimize the processes that occur inside. After setting up the system, optimization adjustments were made to check for leaks and possible corrections in the operation of the pilot project. The hydraulic retention time (HRT), daily load volume (VC), internal and external temperature of the system, calculation of the internal pressure of the biodigester together with the amount of biogas, analysis of nine solids and pH of the diluted raw manure were evaluated. 2: 1 ratio and biofertilizer. The hydraulic retention time (HRT) was 30 days and the ideal daily load volume was one liter of manure in dilution every two days, the pH of the biofertilizer stabilized at 7.2 being in the ideal range, the observed temperatures were 25ºC inside the biodigester and the average system pressure was 0.943 atm. There were significant reductions in the solids content, mainly the total and volatile solids that are the main precursors of methane gas. The biodigester was evaluated for 30 days and the total biogas production was 18 L. We conclude that it is a viable system, both technically and economically, and can be implemented in rural or urban areas and be adapted to larger scales.
