Conocimientos, Actitudes y Prácticas de los Productores Artesanales de Abaca: Ilustraciones Filipinas

El estudio determinó los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de los productores artesanales de abacá en Marihatag, Surigao del Sur. Específicamente, el estudio buscó determinar el perfil sociodemográfico y los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas en la producción artesanal de abacá de los encuestados. Este estudio utilizó un diseño de investigación cuantitativo y cualitativo, utilizando un conjunto de cuestionarios y una guía de entrevista que involucró a 134 productores artesanales de abacá, quienes fueron seleccionados a través de un método de muestreo aleatorio. Los productores artesanales de abacá también fueron entrevistados a través de discusiones de grupos focales. Los resultados indicaron que los encuestados tienen 41 años o más (41,8%), sexo femenino (78,4%), nivel secundario completo (55,2%), tienen de 5 a 6 dependientes (38,06%), están casados (70,9%), han sido productor artesanal de abacá desde hace menos de un año (41,4%), y ha asistido de 1 a 2 capacitaciones (46,27%) sobre producción artesanal de abacá. Se encontró que el nivel de conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas aún necesita mejorar, con valores medios de 3.46, 3.62 y 3.70, respectivamente. Las herramientas de intervención, por lo tanto, deben desarrollarse para mejorar el conocimiento, las actitudes y las prácticas, particularmente la capacitación en desarrollo de productos y el apoyo a la comercialización, debido al área de mercado limitada y la necesidad de adaptarse a los métodos modernos de comercialización. También identificó la falta de financiamiento para equipos y vehículos de transporte, donde se recomienda la necesidad de colaborar con las unidades del gobierno local y otras agencias. Se recomienda una propuesta de proyecto de desarrollo de productos para productores artesanales de abacá.
