Grieving Process and Grief Coping Strategies of Selected Bereaved Students in a State College in Manila

Resumen

Este estudio analizó el proceso de duelo y las estrategias para afrontar el duelo de estudiantes universitarios en duelo en una universidad estatal de Manila. El duelo y el duelo afectan a los estudiantes de manera integral, impactando su estado emocional, cognitivo, físico, social y espiritual/religioso. Debido a estos impactos, es extremadamente importante que los profesores y la administración del instituto reconozcan la frecuencia del duelo en el campus. También es crucial que la institución comprenda cómo responden los estudiantes a su duelo e identifique quiénes están en duelo, para garantizar que la institución retenga a los estudiantes. Para determinar el proceso de duelo y las estrategias de afrontamiento del duelo de los estudiantes de una universidad estatal en Manila, se validó una encuesta realizada por un investigador y se probó su confiabilidad. Los encuestados de este estudio están compuestos por 61 estudiantes en duelo de la Facultad de Artes y Ciencias. Según los resultados recopilados, los encuestados a menudo experimentan un sentimiento de dolor al enterarse de que han perdido a un ser querido durante el difícil momento de la pandemia. Aunque la aceptación fue muy expresada, también sufren mucho por la negación; negociación; ira y depresión. Afrontan su dolor utilizando las dos orientaciones (pérdida y restauración) por igual. Tanto el orientado a la pérdida como el orientado a la restauración obtuvieron una media de 2,75 con una interpretación de "a menudo" que indica que el estudiante en duelo emplea moderadamente la estrategia de afrontamiento del duelo tanto del orientado a la pérdida como del orientado a la restauración. Y no existe una relación significativa y positiva entre el proceso de duelo que experimentaron los encuestados y sus estrategias para afrontar el duelo.
