Tengo curiosidad: ¿qué influyó en tu decisión de no dedicarte a la docencia después de graduarte?

El creciente número de graduados en educación que deciden no dedicarse a la docencia tras graduarse plantea interrogantes cruciales sobre la eficacia y la coherencia de los programas de formación docente. Si bien la formación docente suele diseñarse con la expectativa de que los graduados se incorporen a la profesión docente, diversos factores personales, sociales y estructurales pueden influir en las opciones profesionales alternativas. Este estudio de caso cualitativo exploró las decisiones profesionales posteriores a la graduación de graduados en educación docente que optaron por no dedicarse a la docencia. Los datos se recopilaron mediante entrevistas en profundidad con seis participantes y se analizaron mediante análisis temático. Los hallazgos revelaron que muchos graduados ingresaron a la formación docente de forma involuntaria o debido al acceso limitado a los cursos de su preferencia. Si bien algunos desarrollaron motivación durante la práctica docente, otros se desanimaron por las exigencias percibidas, los bajos salarios y la limitada flexibilidad de la profesión docente. Los graduados también mencionaron la incertidumbre personal, la influencia social y el atractivo de carreras con beneficios económicos o flexibles en otros sectores. A pesar de ello, muchos reconocieron la transferibilidad de las competencias docentes y expresaron su disposición a regresar a la profesión en mejores condiciones. El estudio destaca la importancia de fortalecer la orientación temprana, la orientación profesional y el desarrollo de la identidad profesional en los programas de formación docente. También subraya la necesidad de reformas políticas que aborden la compensación, la carga de trabajo y las vías de empleo para hacer de la docencia una opción profesional más atractiva y sostenible.
