Abstract

Pregnancy involves metabolic changes in which the woman needs to adapt for the maintenance and good evolution of the pregnancy state, it is known that numerous risks, especially those associated with the decompensation of some chronic disease such as hypertension, obesity and diabetes, are potentiated during pregnancy. In addition to environmental influences capable of generating stress triggers and interfering with the development of the fetus, this includes the new coronavirus pandemic. Objective: To know the main indications for termination of pregnancy before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. Methodological procedures: This is an observational study carried out in a university maternity hospital of tertiary complexity in the city of São Luís, during 2018 and 2020, the blood counts, sociodemographic and obstetric profile of 133 women were analyzed. Results: A correlation was identified between hemoglobin values with the newborn's weight and platelet values with gestational age and length of stay, in addition to the fact that the main cause of interruption was associated with decompensation of pressure factors, especially pre-eclampsia . Conclusion: As pre-eclampsia is the main cause of maternal death, strict observation of the predicted results in the blood count that are associated with the development of cardiovascular complications such as hemoglobin and platelet concentrations is suggested, especially by professionals working in primary care for to be the main gateway for pregnant women, in order to identify risk factors early and minimize the impacts of morbidities associated with the reproductive periodo.
