An ecocriticism analysis of Western Classic and Contemporary Novels

Resumo

As pessoas, independentemente de raça e gênero, aprendem significativamente ao interagir com a natureza, o que leva à resiliência, adaptação, conectividade e à fragilidade e beleza da vida, o que os ajuda a construir uma forte harmonia e interação com ela. Através da literatura, este contexto foi explorado para determinar como é possível para o ser humano desafiar a natureza. Este estudo tem como objetivo descobrir e explorar a relação do ser humano com a natureza por meio de uma análise temática de dois romances premiados, “O Velho e o Mar” do autor cubano Ernest Hemmingway e “A Vida de Pi” do escritor canadense Yann Martel. Por meio de uma análise aprofundada, cinco temas emergiram neste estudo: domínio da natureza, respeito pela natureza, intercessão espiritual, perseverança e habilidades sobre a sorte. Simbolismos dos dois romances que constituem os temas também foram comparados e contrastados. Este estudo empregou a ecocrítica para entender melhor o ritmo da existência humana e da natureza.
