Umbu is native to the Brazilian semiarid region. It participates as a food base and for the rural populations of the Northeast region, its Umbu exploitation is done in an extractive manner, constituting an important source of complementary income and of family labor for the communities of the Brazilian Semiarid. Based on the problems arising from rapid ripening and high losses, the objective was to evaluate the postharvest quality of umbuzeiro fruits stored under modified atmosphere and natural environment at different temperatures. A completely randomized design was used, with 6 treatments (use or not of the PVC film and four different temperatures), with 5 repetitions and 4 analysis periods. The statistical analysis of the results was performed using the SISVAR program. It was concluded that PVC packaging proved to be efficient in maintaining the quality of umbu fruits, preserving the mass of stored fruits for a longer time, this effect is intensified when the fruits are stored at temperatures of -5ºC and 12ºC.
