Abstract

ABSTRACT: This article is the result of work developed in the scope of studies on cultural, social and economic aspects in the face of the dynamics of a city in Sergipe with great regional socioeconomic relevance. Its objective was to highlight the economic and social nuances given the centrality that the city of Itabaiana has in the urban network of the state of Sergipe, with reach on the national scene. Documentary and bibliographic research, landscape analysis and unstructured observation were used throughout the study. Throughout the research, the economic interdependence of the urban headquarters with the rural environment is perceived in view of the socioeconomic interactions established in the region. In addition, the centrality of the fair as a cultural heritage of a people is emphasized, going beyond economic factors, and the fundamental role of commerce in the face of local development.

Doutor e Mestre em Desenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe - PRODEMA/UFS. Especialista em Ensino de Geografia e Licenciado em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Alagoas - IGDEMA/UFAL. Professor de Geografia pela Secretaria de Estado da Educação, da Ciência e Tecnologia da Paraíba - SEECT/PB.

Maria José Nascimento Soares, Universidade Federal de Sergipe

Graduada em Licenciatura Plena em Pedagogia pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe (1991), Mestrado em Educação pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe (1996) e Doutorado em Educação pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (2006). Atualmente é professora associado da Universidade Federal de Sergipe. Tem experiência na área de formação de profissionais na Educação básica e no ensino Superior, com ênfase em Didática, Métodos e Técnicas de Ensino, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: educação e sustentabilidade, meio ambiente e interdisciplinaridade, educação ambiental, prática pedagógica, educação escolar e não escolar, formação de profissionais na abordagem interdisciplinar no âmbito das Ciências Ambientais. Coordena o Programa de Pós-Graduação em Desenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente da Universidade Federal de Sergipe e atua na assessoria da equipe multidisciplinar dos cursos a distância da UFS.
