A organização dos agricultores familiares do município de Carlos Barbosa/RS

ABSTRACT: From this study, we seek to understand how family farmers in the municipality of Carlos Barbosa/RS are organized, with regard to the main agricultural activities, taking as a reference data provided by Emater and the Secretariat for Rural Development. To this end, we sought to identify the various activities, which, at the moment, enable the reproduction and permanence of family farming. The theoretical frameworks used in the investigation that resulted in this article seek elements that provide an understanding of the analyzed phenomenon. The research is qualitative and exploratory, using semi-structured interviews. As a result, it was found that family farming plays an important role in the production of food and in the supply of raw materials, such as milk, to the dairy industry. The surveyed units are diversified, with units whose production is characterized by temporary crops and others by permanent crops, associated with animal husbandry.
