Desafios da manutenção da prática tradicional de pesca na comunidade da Praia Grande em Niterói/RJ

ABSTRACT: Considering that the evolvement of a society goes through mediation of conflicts between constitutional rights, traditional and sustainable vinculation of a territory and economic interests, a point is made of identifying challenges faced by traditional fishermen in maintaining their activities in the fishing community of Praia Grande in Niterói/RJ. There for, it's used the interviews under the perspective of Kaufmann's comprehensive interview (2008) with different actors that are part of the community. This way, it's observed that some of the challenges faced are: urban growth and it's influence, the impact of occupation of the marine space by the offshore activity, the deficit of basic sanitation, the inefficiency of public policies, the social invisibility and bad structural organization and the consuming chain. Allowing to conclude and reiterate the importance of the presence of public power along with public policies directed to fishing communities intending to maintain traditional knowledge and natural sources.
