A celebração da Marujada na Festa de Agosto em Felício dos Santos, Minas Gerais

ABSTRACT: This work proposes the study of the celebration of Marujada at the Feast of Nossa Senhora do Rosário in Felício dos Santos, Minas Gerais, referring to the years 2003 to 2009. The main objective is to study the expression of popular religiosity of local residents through research about the devotional practices carried out by the sailors of the municipality. The methodology employed was based on bibliographic review and analysis of documentary sources (minutes, dossiers, inventories) held by the public and private entities of the place. The literature used was based on authors of the festive-religious theme, namely: Jancsó; Kantor (2001), Amaral (1998) and Brandão (1974). The research allowed us to infer that the celebration of Marujada in Felício dos Santos is a manifestation permeated by symbologies, signs, senses, rituals that mix with the festive rituals of the Catholic Church, causing a syncretism of popular cultures to emerge.
