Social Impact, Mining activity, Sistematic Literature ReviewAbstract
Mining activity entails significant changes in various spheres of human life and in the local community in which it operates. These alterations are called social impacts and are the objects of analysis of the Social Impact Assessments (SIA), which are important identification, measurement and planning instruments for building protection and recovery plans for the communities where these activities take place. SIA can be conducted in numerous ways, thus requiring the formulation of guidelines for its construction. In this way, this article aims to: present social impact indicators of mining activity, collected by mapping the dimensions and indicators used and described in the literature while identifying the best SIA practices. For this purpose, a systematic review of the literature was carried out according to the protocol by Pagani, Kovaleski and Resende (2015). The analysis of the results led to the identification of seven main dimensions, as well as another 33 complementary dimensions and over 200 indicators discussed in the articles. In addition, gaps were detected in the main dimensions, such as gender issues, erroneous perception of community homogeneity and the lack of government policies obligating the mitigation of negative impacts arising from these activities.
