Abstract

Priestly formation is a multifaceted process that prepares seminarians for lifelong ministry across human, spiritual, academic, and pastoral dimensions. This study explores how these four dimensions influence vocational discernment and career development within a diocesan seminary in Cavite. By examining the interrelationships among these dimensions, the research aims to provide insights into how seminarians navigate their formation and make informed vocational decisions. The study aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UNSDG) 4: Quality Education, as it seeks to enhance seminary formation through a holistic and contextualized approach. Employing a multiple case study design, this research involved 12 participants—three academic professors, three pastoral laymen, three priests, and three seminarians—who provided perspectives on the impact of formation dimensions. Face-to-face interviews followed ethical guidelines, and data were analyzed using thematic and cross-case analysis. Findings highlight the essential role of comprehensive support systems in ensuring effective priestly formation. The results offer valuable insights for improving seminary training, fostering more profound vocational commitment, and strengthening priestly education. Ultimately, this study contributes to developing a well-prepared and dedicated clergy.
