Youth governance in the selected Barangays of Baguio City

Se espera que los jóvenes participen en programas de construcción de la nación y desarrollo de la juventud no solo en los deportes sino también en varios sectores de la sociedad enumerados en la Agenda 2030 de las Naciones Unidas y el Plan de Desarrollo de la Juventud de Filipinas. Filipinas tiene el Sangguniang Kabataan como un lugar para que los jóvenes participen en el gobierno y se rige por la ley de reforma del Sangguniang Kabataan de 2015. La investigación se centró en estudiar el gobierno juvenil de barangays seleccionados de la ciudad de Baguio. El estudio utilizó un enfoque cualitativo descriptivo, utilizando entrevistas con participantes clave, discusiones de grupos focales y análisis de documentos en la recopilación de datos y el uso de análisis temático. Los resultados muestran que Sangguniang Kabataan realiza perfiles de jóvenes para identificar las necesidades de los jóvenes. A partir de ahí, crean proyectos y programas, muchos bajo ciudadanía activa. Los Sangguniang Kabataan emplean diferentes estrategias para formular e implementar proyectos y programas, como asociaciones organizacionales, empleando motivación intrínseca y extrínseca, y teniendo adaptabilidad, ingenio y compromiso para servir y empoderar a la juventud. A pesar de contar con excelentes estrategias, todavía existe un problema para obtener la participación de los jóvenes debido a la mayor disponibilidad de otros líderes de Sangguniang Kabataan, la participación de jóvenes inactivos, el desafío del presupuesto y la falta de instalaciones y capacitación. Los investigadores diseñaron varios programas para abordar los desafíos que surgieron durante el estudio, y estos fueron: asamblea general semestral, desarrollo de capacidades para líderes de Sangguniang Kabataan y miembros de Katipunan ng Kabataan, y la creación de un centro juvenil.
