Challenges and Opportunities in an Alternative Approach for Academic Workload in the New Normal

Resumen

La COVID-19 puso en duda la prestación de una educación de calidad, ya que alteró abruptamente la escolarización presencial en todas las instituciones educativas del mundo. Los administradores universitarios se vieron obligados a diseñar y adoptar un esquema que se adapte al entorno del aprendizaje remoto pero que salvaguarde la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de calidad. Esta investigación cuantitativa-descriptiva evalúa el enfoque alternativo a la carga de trabajo académico adoptado por una universidad local en la ciudad de Batangas, durante la pandemia, cuando se suspendieron las clases presenciales. El esquema de carga de trabajo adoptado tenía como objetivo garantizar una impartición efectiva y eficiente de instrucción remota para que se mantenga el aprendizaje de calidad. La evaluación se centró en los desafíos y oportunidades del sistema adoptado denominado “esquema de carga de trabajo académico de dos semestres”. Los datos se recopilaron a través de un cuestionario validado por contenido distribuido a doscientos setenta y siete (277) encuestados a través de un formulario de Google. Los encuestados eran profesores y estudiantes de tiempo completo de la Facultad de Educación. La recopilación de datos se produjo en el primer trimestre de 2022, un año y medio después de la implementación del esquema adoptado. Se encontró que profesores y estudiantes compartían puntos de vista similares, especialmente sobre las oportunidades que resultaron del plan, pero se observaron puntos de vista ligeramente contrastantes sobre los desafíos. Sin embargo, esto no resultó en una diferencia significativa en las respuestas. El estudio reveló que el esquema adoptado creó más oportunidades que desafíos y, por lo tanto, cumplió el propósito de mantener una excelente impartición de instrucción y se logró el resultado de calidad esperado.
