Luchas de la vida real: Explorando las experiencias de los estudiantes trabajadores que se gradúan en la escuela secundaria

Este estudio examina los desafíos que enfrentan los estudiantes de último año de secundaria en Filipinas que equilibran el empleo y la educación en medio de las interrupciones causadas por la pandemia de COVID-19. La investigación tiene como objetivo explorar los obstáculos que estos estudiantes enfrentan, centrándose en su capacidad para gestionar las responsabilidades laborales y académicas. Utilizando un enfoque de indagación narrativa cualitativa, el estudio realizó entrevistas semiestructuradas, uno a uno, con tres estudiantes de la Escuela Secundaria Integral Nacional de Tanza. Se obtuvo el consentimiento informado, y las entrevistas fueron grabadas y analizadas mediante un análisis de contenido convencional para identificar temas recurrentes. El análisis reveló temas críticos, incluyendo la lucha por equilibrar el trabajo y el estudio, experiencias personales, apoyo familiar, prioridades de estudio, demandas laborales, influencias de compañeros y desafíos financieros. Los estudiantes informaron experiencias de estrés, dificultades en la gestión del tiempo y presión, pero destacaron la importancia del apoyo de la familia y los compañeros. Los hallazgos enfatizan la necesidad de estructuras familiares sólidas, avances socioeconómicos y políticas educativas mejoradas para apoyar a los estudiantes trabajadores. Esta investigación subraya los complejos desafíos que enfrentan estos estudiantes y aboga por mecanismos de apoyo mejorados para ayudarles a navegar sus responsabilidades duales de manera efectiva durante tiempos sin precedentes.
