Resumo

Em todas as instituições de ensino superior, assegurar a oferta de educação de qualidade aos alunos continua a ser uma prioridade máxima. Consequentemente, o bem-estar de todos os que estão na linha da frente – os membros do corpo docente – também deve ser levado em consideração. Os vários fatores de stress enfrentados pelo corpo docente no ambiente de ensino devem ser abordados para mitigar o seu impacto na saúde mental e no bem-estar dos educadores. A saúde mental e o bem-estar são cruciais para um ensino eficaz e para a produtividade.

Este estudo investiga a relação entre os principais fatores de stress no local de trabalho e os seus impactos psicológicos nos membros do corpo docente, com o objetivo de identificar estratégias eficazes para promover o bem-estar mental no ambiente académico. Com base num inquérito desenvolvido pelo investigador e aplicado a noventa e seis (96) membros efetivos do corpo docente, a investigação identifica a carga de trabalho excessiva, as oportunidades limitadas de desenvolvimento de carreira e o ambiente de trabalho como os principais fatores de stress no local de trabalho.

Em resposta a estas conclusões, os inquiridos apoiam fortemente a implementação de iniciativas de saúde mental e bem-estar na instituição de ensino superior, incluindo atividades de lazer neutras em termos de género, iniciativas de bem-estar e a promoção de uma cultura de trabalho inclusiva. Os resultados sublinham a importância de estratégias de saúde mental proativas e abrangentes para mitigar o impacto dos fatores de stress e promover uma força de trabalho mais saudável e resiliente.
