Danos causados à saúde humana pelos metais tóxicos presentes no lixo eletrônico

ABSTRACT: Waste electrical and eletronic equipment (WEEE), known as electronic waste and e-waste, corresponds to eletronic devices that are disposed of in the trash. This article is a bibliographic review study, winth the objective of showing the impacts that are caused to the environment and people’s health by the heavy metals released by the improperly discarded electronic equipment. The information was obtained by Consulting scientific publications available on google scholar, using the descriptors “Eletronic waste” and “damage to human health” na “toxic metals” and “damage to homan health”. Scientific piblications in Portuguese were pointed out in the years 2011 to 2019. The publications show that the printed circuit boards contained in WEE contain heavy metals, including lead, cádmium and mercury. The metals presente in WEEE pose risks to human health, especially to the respiratory, nervous, digestive systems and can cause cancer or even lead to death. There are countless harms caused by electronic waste to the environment and human health. The knowledge of this reality may change the consumption pattern of this equipment, as well as the correct destination of these materials.
