In elementary and secondary education, Botany is a sub-discipline of Science and Biology, aiming to develop cognitive skills and plant perception. It has faced several challenges, including superficial and unrefined teaching methods with limited applications. Using the Atlantic Forest as a theme for Botany classes, combined with the competencies of the Brazilian National Common Curriculum Base (BNCC), is an excellent teaching tool. The objective was to provide an atlas with images of native plants of the Atlantic Forest, including the main botanical groups (bryophytes, ferns, and angiosperms), for teachers to use in the classroom and in the field with their students, building a bridge between concept and reality. The atlas was developed with plants occurring in a fragment of the Atlantic Forest in the state of Alagoas, in the Planalto Private Natural Heritage Reserve (RPPN), with images captured for identification and organization of the plants in the digital atlas. By using an atlas as a teaching tool, Botany classes become more engaging, and it also serves as an excellent resource for recognizing characteristic elements of the Atlantic Forest. The use of an atlas can potentially result in interactive and interesting lessons for students.
