This paper presents an experience report developed within the scope of the Higher Education Teaching Internship, in the course Knowledge and Didactics of Mathematics Teaching 2, of the Pedagogy program at the Center of Education (Cedu) of the Federal University of Alagoas (Ufal). The experience was conducted by the first author with a group of 35 undergraduate Pedagogy students during the 2024.1 academic semester. The objective was to report pedagogical practices using the Geoboard as a didactic resource for teaching the concepts of area and perimeter in the training process of future teachers who teach Mathematics. The proposal is justified by the need to broaden discussions about Mathematics teaching in the initial education of pedagogues, especially regarding the understanding and teaching of geometric concepts in the Early Years of Elementary School. The study is characterized as a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory research approach. The activities were organized into progressive stages, beginning with the survey of students’ prior knowledge, followed by Geoboard manipulation practices and the resolution of challenges involving composite figures. The results indicate that the use of the resource enhanced conceptual understanding, stimulated geometric reasoning, and expanded the methodological repertoire of the participants, reinforcing the importance of practical and concrete experiences in the teacher education process.
