ABSTRACT: Objective: To present the construction of an intervention planning to strengthen social control in a health unit of the Maceió-Alagoas family. Method: It consists of a research-action study whose product was the construction of an intervention project aimed at strengthening social control at the UBS Dr. José Araújo Silva, located in the neighborhood of Jacintinho in Maceió-AL. For their elaboration the reflections of the authors-participants were used. Results: Awareness-raising activities were planned for Community Health Agents through workshops; identification of key community members for social mobilization with the objective of promoting the strengthening of the Local Health Council; and construction of educational material by the ACS in partnership with the members of the Project, to be used to raise awareness of UBS users and in the community. Conclusion: Social control has been constitutionally guaranteed since 1988 and reinforced its importance in organic health laws through the creation of health councils and conferences. The present planning is expected to stimulate the protagonism of the user community attended by UBS Dr. José Araújo Silva in the permanent process of construction of the Unified Health System, by strengthening adherence to the process of social control as a strategy to defend interests and needs of the neighborhood and population.
