Student services in higher education: impact on academic success amid and after the pandemic

No se puede sobreestimar la influencia de los servicios de apoyo a los estudiantes en el éxito académico, ya que desempeñan un papel fundamental en el rendimiento y el bienestar general de los estudiantes. En respuesta, las instituciones educativas han establecido oficinas dedicadas a los asuntos estudiantiles para atender a las diversas necesidades de los estudiantes, asegurando su bienestar y desarrollo holístico. En particular, durante los desafíos sin precedentes planteados por la pandemia, estos servicios de apoyo han surgido como aún más vitales, promoviendo la adaptación e innovación dentro de las oficinas de asuntos estudiantiles para mantener el bienestar de los estudiantes y el progreso académico.
En este estudio se analizaron las experiencias de los estudiantes del Colegio de Educación de la Universidad Tecnológica de Rizal, especializados en diversas esferas, como la licenciatura en educación secundaria y la Licenciatura en Educación Técnica Profesional de Maestros. Estos estudiantes, que llegaron de los campus de Mandaluyong City y Pasig City, fueron seleccionados sobre la base de su exposición a los servicios de apoyo a los estudiantes antes, durante y después de la pandemia. Habiendo completado los cursos requeridos, aportaron valiosos conocimientos sobre sus competencias y experiencias con los servicios de apoyo.
Utilizando un enfoque cuantitativo descriptivo, este estudio exploró las perspectivas de los estudiantes sobre los servicios de apoyo antes de la pandemia, echando luz sobre los desafíos enfrentados y los problemas enfrentados durante su utilización. Además, evaluó los niveles de satisfacción de los estudiantes con respecto a la eficacia de los servicios de apoyo para atender a sus necesidades de bienestar y desarrollo. Por último, el estudio examinó los cambios y mejoras posteriores a la pandemia en los servicios de apoyo a los estudiantes, ofreciendo información valiosa para la mejora continua y la adaptación frente a las circunstancias en evolución.
