La encarnación de los cuatro pilares por parte de los estudiantes de la Universidad de Bicol a través de Hataw

Resumen

Este estudio explora cómo los estudiantes de la Universidad de Bicol encarnan los cuatro pilares principales de la institución: Beca, Liderazgo, Carácter y Servicio, a través de su participación en el programa de actividad física de la universidad, Hataw. Estos pilares son la base de la misión de la universidad de desarrollar individuos académicamente competentes, con fundamentos morales y socialmente responsables. El estudio tuvo como objetivo (1) identificar los perfiles demográficos de los estudiantes, (2) determinar qué pilar encarnan de forma más prominente durante Hataw, y (3) clasificar los factores que impiden la plena encarnación de estos pilares. 1,512 estudiantes participaron en el estudio, que empleó un diseño de investigación cuantitativa mediante una lista de verificación estructurada. Los resultados mostraron que la mayoría de los encuestados tenían entre 18 y 20 años (79.70%), y las mujeres representaban el 62.9%. Los estudiantes de diversos programas académicos, en particular la Facultad de Educación y el Instituto de Educación Física, Deportes y Recreación, participaron activamente en Hataw. Los resultados revelaron que los estudiantes encarnaron el pilar de Beca al adquirir conocimientos y disfrutar de la experiencia de aprendizaje. El liderazgo se demostró a través del trabajo en equipo y el apoyo entre compañeros, mientras que el carácter se reflejó en el fomento de un entorno de apoyo. El servicio se evidenció en la participación voluntaria sin esperar recompensas. Sin embargo, varias barreras dificultaron la plena participación, como la baja confianza, el nerviosismo, las condiciones ambientales adversas, la falta de preparación y el desconocimiento de la coreografía. El estudio destaca la importancia de programas como Hataw para promover el desarrollo integral de los estudiantes y reforzar los valores institucionales. Las recomendaciones incluyen aumentar la participación en actividades que desarrollan habilidades, liderazgo y carácter, a la vez que se abordan las barreras a la participación. Estos hallazgos subrayan el papel de la actividad física en el crecimiento personal y sugieren maneras para que la Universidad de Bicol mejore los programas cocurriculares para apoyar el desarrollo estudiantil.
