Time, sense and Travesal: Reflections on the rhythms of experience

This article examines time and meaning as ways of inhabiting the world and being affected by it. Drawing on phenomenological, decolonial, and critical perspectives, it proposes an understanding of time beyond linear chronology and of meaning beyond the logic of direction and command. Engaging with the works of Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty, Rancière, Arendt, Isabelle Stengers, Rudolf Steiner, Ailton Krenak, and scholars associated with Southern epistemologies, the article argues that time and meaning are embodied dimensions of experience, inseparable from the body, landscape, and territory. It explores the notion of traversal as a conceptual category that articulates temporality and sensibility, highlighting the roles of rhythm, memory, listening, and presence in the production of plural ways of being. The discussion further develops the concept of a political education of the senses as an ethical, aesthetic, and political practice capable of resisting instrumental rationality, temporal acceleration, and the colonization of perception. By reclaiming the right to the incompressible and recognizing the centrality of the sensible in the constitution of the common world, the article offers a reflection on experience as a field of openness, creation, and transformation, contributing to contemporary debates on landscape, education, politics, and embodiment.
